Follow Spaceland Blue during the 2010 World Meet!

Spaceland Blue (USA women's team) is looking forward to competing in their second world meet which is being held in Russia. After a second place finish two years ago in France, the goal for this competition is to bring home the Gold.

The event is organized by DZ Menzilinsk of the Republic of Tatarstan with the full support of the Russian Parachute Federation, Central Airclub of the Republic of Tatarstan and CS ROSTO of the Republic of Tatarstan. Menzelinsk Skydiving Center is located in the Kama River Valley near Menzelinsk city.

Happenings

On July 13th, 2010, Hollywood special effect wizards descended upon Perris Valley in California to create a mindblowing visual effects shot that included a balloon jump from 5000 feet. Hollywood Bubble, Inc., led by producer and skydiver Ruben Garay, teamed up with the mega-popular VFX artists behind FreddieW's Youtube channel consisting of Freddie Wong and Brandon Laatsch.

"This was a perfect opportunity for us to infuse skydiving with hollywood special effects and introduce the sport to FreddieW's massive user base of over 250,000 subscribers." says Ruben Garay. "Their videos get over a million views in average".

The effect involved having a couple of roommates living in loft style building that floats in the sky. Freddie says he's on his way out, and we notice the skydiving gear. He opens the door and reveals the structure is floating above earth, much like the animated film "Up!". 

His roommate asks him to go pick up some eggs from the grocery store as he leaps out of the building, super hero style (stunt performed by Ruben Garay and filmed by Niklas Daniel) and we see the building get smaller as he gets into free-fall. "They basically replaced the real life balloon with a 3D model of the building they actually live at in downtown LA". 

He gets the eggs and jets himself back up to the loft in the sky, and that's when the payoff occurs, which we believe makes half of the hilarity of this entire 1 minute clip.

Blue just completed another training camp at the Eloy Tunnel in Arizona. The team spent their entire time in the airflow with rigs.
